Michelle Eichelberger is one of the science department’s newest members, working with students in the lab. When asked why she came to Mercersburg, she responded, “For the same wonderful experience that my daughter [Erika ‘20] had in this community. Moving to a private school and someday teaching overseas are on my professional bucket list.”
Eichelberger has 32 years of teaching experience. In the past, she taught: algebra I and II, college algebra, trigonometry, calculus, geometry, chemistry, advanced chemistry, AP chemistry, applied chemistry, organic chemistry, physical science, physics, AP physics I. She is currently teaching general chemistry, honors chemistry, and advanced studies chemistry. She would like to incorporate selected chemistry topics into the Mercersburg science program, creating a “student-driven curriculum based on student interests and career goals.”
Outside of the classroom, Eichelberger has an extensive number of hobbies. She says, “This is a long list too…. walk my dog, scrapbook, re-read the Outlander book series… I am an avid fiber arts enthusiast. I like to knit and spin my own yarn, mostly from my own angora rabbits, and I dabble in the chemistry of natural dyes.”
Eichelberger is looking forward to this school year, specifically, “Getting to know all my students and hopefully bring my passion for chemistry to life here.”
